Credit Information Utilization System

In accordance with Article 31 of the Act on Use and Protection of Credit Information, we disclose the following about the credit information utilization system managed by us.

Ⅰ. Use purpose and type of managed credit information

1. Use purpose

We use credit information for the purposes listed below when it is necessary to determine the credit rating of the other party in commercial transactions such as financial transactions.

  • A. Determining whether to set up and maintain commercial transactions, such as financial transactions, requested by the relevant credit information subject
  • B. Other cases stipulated by the provisions of the same Act and other laws

2. Type of credit information

  • A. Identification information
    • Individual name and resident registration number (alien registration number for foreigners, domestic address report number for overseas Koreans, and credit information registration number for foreign overseas Koreans if there is no foreigner registration number or domestic address number), trade name of individual company and corporation, business or corporate registration number, name of representative, etc.
  • B. Credit transaction information
    • 1) Personal credit transaction information
      Current status of loans, debt guarantees and credit card cash advances, credit card issuance and termination, overdue information, information on payment by subrogation/substitute payment, and bill & check default information
  • C. Financial order disturbance information
    • Facts of disturbing the order of financial transactions, such as obtaining loans in an illegal way, etc.
  • D. Credit ability information
    • General information such as the total amount of personal property, debt, and income and tax payment performance, overview of the company, business details, financial matters such as financial status and financial ratio, non-financial matters such as auditor's audit opinion and tax payment performance, etc.
  • E. Public record information
    • Delinquency of national taxes, local taxes, customs duties, negligence fines, employment insurance and industrial accident premiums, registration as a non-payment of debt by court ruling, accounts undergoing individual rehabilitation procedure, accounts for which credit recovery support has been confirmed, accounts that have been exempted from liability due to bankruptcy, etc.

Ⅱ. The credit information recipient, the purpose of use of the credit information recipient, and the type of credit information provided

1. Credit information recipient

Credit information concentration institutions, credit information companies, other public institutions that require submission of credit information under the same Act and other laws, etc.

  • A. Credit information concentration institutions: Korea Credit Information Service, National Federation of Banks, Korea Financial Investment Association, Specialized Credit Financial Business Association, etc.
  • B. Credit information companies: Korea Credit Information Co., Ltd., Korea Credit Rating Information Co., Ltd., Korea Credit Bureau Co., Ltd., etc.

2. Purpose of use of the credit information recipient

Credit information concentration institutions, credit information companies, other public institutions that require submission of credit information under the same Act and other laws, etc.

  • A. Concentrate, collect, store, and provide credit information on financial institutions
  • B. Other cases stipulated by the provisions of the same Act and other laws

3. Type of credit information provided

Identification information, credit transaction information, financial order disturbance information, and credit ability information that can be provided under the provisions of the same Act and other laws such as the Financial Holding Company Act

Ⅲ. Credit information retention and use period, and credit information destruction procedure and method

1. Credit information retention and use period

Possible retention period according to the provisions of the same Act and other laws such as the Financial Holding Company Act, and retention and use until consent to provision of customer information is withdrawn or provision is requested to be stopped

2. Credit information destruction procedure and method

Credit information stored in the form of electronic files is destroyed using a technical method that makes it impossible to reproduce the records, and personal information recorded and stored in paper documents is destroyed by crushing them with a shredder or by incineration.

Ⅴ. Rights of subjects of credit information and how to exercise them

1. Right to request access to and provision of personal credit information

Any subject of credit information may display proof of his or her identity and request the provision or inspection of his or her information held by the credit information company.

2. Right to request correction of personal credit information

Any subject of credit information may request a correction to a credit information company, etc., if his or her credit information is different from the facts.

3. Right to request notification of credit information provision

Any subject of credit information may request to be notified of the details of providing credit information about him or her for the past one year.

4. Right to withdraw consent to provision and use of personal credit information

Any subject of credit information may withdraw consent to provide personal credit information through wired/wireless communication or in writing, if consent is given for purposes other than the purpose of evaluating his or her credit rating.
